The weather is heating up, and we are all itching to get out and enjoy the sunshine. After a tough year of being cooped up in the house, we all could enjoy some outdoor activities this spring and summer. Luckily, Huntsville, Alabama doesn’t lack when it comes to outdoor places to explore and enjoy. Here are some of our favorite outdoor activities in Huntsville, Alabama.
Big Spring ParkLocated in Downtown Huntsville, Big Spring Park is home to several events throughout the year. But even when there isn’t a big event happening, it is still a great place to visit on any given day. This park is actually what brought settlers to the area of Huntsville over 200 years ago. According to the Huntsville Chamber of Commerce, the red bridge and cherry blossom trees were given to the city by Japanese Major General Mikio Kimata as a thank you for the hospitality he received. The bridge and trees were formally adopted to the city in May of 1977. You can feed the friendly ducks, enjoy the walking paths or grab lunch somewhere nearby.
Huntsville Botanical GardenThis 112-acre garden is the perfect place to visit during the springtime, although it is open year round. Huntsville Botanical Garden hosts several events throughout the year for the entire family to enjoy, including a summer camp for kids and cooking classes and wine tastings. Take a stroll around the gardens and see for yourself what all the excitement is all about. The beauty is breathtaking.
Toyota FieldWith the Trash Pandas opening day right around the corner, you want to make plans to attend! Toyota Field is a state-of-the-art facility located in Madison, Alabama. The Trash Pandas baseball season kicks off spring 2021, and the community is more than excited. However, there are several different occasions for which you can visit Toyota Field. They host a variety of events including kids camps, happy hours, business mixers and more! If you’re looking for a place to host an event, Toyota Field might be the place for you.
The Camp in MidcityThe Camp is located in Midcity Huntsville near Topgolf and Dave and Busters. The Camp is dog and kid friendly, and offers a variety of things to explore. Stop by The Greenroom for all of your caffeine needs, or dine and drink with us. The Camp is also your outlet for live music and outdoor events, such as yoga, music fests and more! There are so many different things to do in the Midcity area of Huntsville.

Monte Sano State ParkFor the outdoor adventurers, you must take a trip to Monte Sano State Park, just 15 minutes from downtown. Overlooking Huntsville, the park offers 2,140 acres for you to enjoy walking, biking, hiking or simply just enjoying the beautiful scenery. There are 20 miles of hiking trails and 14 miles of biking trails at a variety of difficulty levels. There are plenty of activities at Monte Santo, including the North Alabama Japanese Garden, Wernher von Braun Planetarium, and Civilian Conservation Corp Museum & Memorial.
